This region, located on the north-east of the country, is considered to be one of the most pictorial areas of Azerbaijan. Gorgeous landscape – unique neighborhood of mountains, forest and the sea – all of above attract tourist from different places of the planet. This, in turn contributes to the fast development of region and resort area.

Khizi

Khizi is the closest to Baku mountain area with temperate dry climate. One of the most quaint natural monuments – holy rock Beshbarmag (Five Fingers) reminding the harden palm risen over the ancient caravan route.

There are a lot of historical monuments in Khizi – ruins of ancient city (V century), ruins of Khizi tower (V), mausoleum of sheikh Heydar and place of worship wot Muslims – sanctuary Khizirzinde on the top of Beshbarmag rock.

Davachi

Davachi is the district that adjoins Caspian Sea on East and has amazingly diversified and right landscape. Sea gives place to valley, turning to hills, ending up with forest where wolves, bears, foxes and deer are live. Then the rocks come growing gradually high to mountains. Near Nokhurar village there are pictorial mountain lakes. One of the most favorite places of tourists is Kechi-gaya with steep slope, mountain river and curative spring of sulphurous water. There is a hunting area with comfortable houses near the sea. It has three lakes, where one can fish or sale on boats.

If you are interested in monuments of antiquary, you should definitely visit ancient city «Gulistani Iram» in Padar village, as well as «Shabran» ub Shakhnazli village. This ancient city, founded in V century is enlisted in World Heritage.

One of the most popular resorts is Galaalti. «Galaalti» is resort that was built here on the basis of curative spring. Here you will be offered to walk to the top of the mountain, crowned by the ruins of ancient fortress Charag-Gala.

Guba

Guba district, which is frequently called «an apple garden» due to gorgeous sorts of apple that grow in Azerbaijan only, lasts from north-east slope of Greater Caucasus till Samur-Davachi valley. This is one of the popular tourist areas of Azerbaijan, where people come to enjoy gorgeous canyon Tengealti, famous waterfall, where water and time had created together quaint natural sculptures reminding real minaret. Within the narrow canyon of Dakhiyanan near Khashi village river thermal sulphurous springs curing many illnesses gush out of rock.

A unique village Khinaliq is just 65 km away from district center at the altitude of 250 m above the sea level. Originality of it is in the point that population of this village forms separate ethnic groups and has own language which nobody else in the world speak. There is also the place where fire burns on the land – Ateshgah (IX) in this village.

The history of Guba, which was one of the most influential khanates of Azerbaijan, is very old. It is evidenced by a number of historical monuments – Juma maschid, mausoleum of XVI century, mosque of Sakina khanum, old baths, etc.

Alexander Dumas and famous Norwegian scientists –adventurer Tur Heirdal had vixited Guba.

Khachmaz

Khachmaz holds the major part of Samur-Davachi lowland and borders with Russia on the North. Climate is temperate here.

Khachmaz is distinct with woody flora, rich with officinal plants, as well as springs of thermal and mineral waters.

Here one of the ancient cities-fortresses Khudat, which used to be the capital of Guba khanate, is located.

The antiquity of the city is evidenced by a number of cultural-historical monuments –ancient settlements and barrows of Bronze Age, Mosque-Madrasah, etc.

The most popular resort of Azerbaijan – Nabran is in Khachmaz district. It lasts for many kilometers along the beach. Dense shady forest, right near to the sea, hot and tender sea, blending with blue sky somewhere far on horizon, roar of the wash, interminable ringing of cicada … - it feels like God made this land as resemblance to Paradise. Every single inch here is an ideal site for leisure. That is why recently there is a «resort-construction boom» here – number of resorts and hotels of different kinds, as well as discotheques and restaurants keeps growing with cosmic speed.
